But, what we got was the personal angle of our favorite (and not-so-favorite) characters and their morally gray actions. We got microcosms of their personal clashes and their effect upon millions of people. We got to see the amplification of the struggle between Rhaenyra and Alicent fan out to that of their children, allies, and kingdom. What I appreciate even more is that the directors didn't balk at the challenge -- they surely knew the audience would be squawking at them come the final montage at the end of the season finale -- how on eart
