Toyota has announced to stop launching cars in Australia by 2017
There are many auto manufacturers, which have made decision to stop launching their cars in Australia.
In 2008, it was the Mitsubishi maker; recently the Ford manufacturer has shared its plans to end manufacturing in Australian plants in two years.
Therefore, there is not a big surprise when the Japanese auto manufacturer said to stop production Toyota cars at its Australian plant. Toyota plans to close manufacturing in 2017.
The main reason of ending production in Australia is unprofitableness of this manufacturing. According to the Toyota statistics, the company has lost about 1.6 billion dollars for 10 years.
The history of the Toyota’s Australian manufacturing began in 1963, when the Australian Motor Industries started launching the Tiara model. Later, in 3 years, the Japanese carmaker bought the controlling interest. In 2012, Toyota produced over 100,000 vehicles a year in Australia however, 73 percent of launched cars were exported.
